The circumstances regarding eligibility for a refund and the associated notice period are based on the earliest start date the participant has ever been registered for.

If a participant cancels sixty (60) days or more before their earliest program start date, they can request a refund of the program fee, which will be provided less a $US 200 cancellation fee. Alternatively, they may ask for a program fee credit to be held in their name for future use on any Day One program, subject to availability, for a period of twelve months from their earliest registered start date. This credit may be issued less the value of any change fees the participant has incurred.

If a participant cancels between fifty-nine (59) and thirty (30) calendar days before their program’s start date, no refund of program fees is available. A program fee credit, less any change fees the participant has incurred, may be held in their name for a period of twelve months from their earliest registered start date, for future use on another Day One program, subject to program availability and at the discretion of the  Day One Program Manager.

If a participant cancels less than thirty days before their program’s start date, no refund of program fees is available. A program fee credit may be held in their name for twelve months from their earliest registered start date, subject to availability, provided program fees have been paid in full by their due date.

Participants who apply and cancel within the timeframes mentioned above are held to the same conditions in relation to their eligibility for a refund.

Once a participant’s refund request has been received by Day One, they will be notified via email. If no notification is received within three working days, the assumption should be made that the request has not been received and the participant is advised to contact his or her Day One Program Manager again.

If a participant registers and requests a verification letter, they cannot then receive a refund for their registration fee should they withdraw from the program.

Where a group of ten or more people is participating with Day One, the group leader must register ahead of other group members in order to secure the group’s dates and plans. Group members must then apply and register no less than sixty days before the program starts. Group members who register less than sixty days before the program start date may be excluded from the program, unless approved by Day One.

Day One reserves the right to revise the program fee at any time. All program fee revisions will be made via the Day One website. Program fee revisions are not applicable to participants who have already submitted their registration fee payment before the revisions are due to take effect. A participant’s placement on a program is not confirmed until program fee has been paid in full and availability has been checked by their Day One Program Manager.

    Payment deadline

Program fee payment should be done at least 1 month (30 days) before the starting date of the chosen program. Should the payment be delayed, Day One and Incitement hold the right to reject the participants application to Day One.

    Change of Dates and Duration

Once registered and before they begin their trip, the participant is entitled to change their start date and duration once at no additional cost. Any additional changes to their start date, destination or duration after the initial free change requires payment of an administration fee of US$50 for each change. Program changes within fourteen (14) calendar days of the participant’s start date will incur a late change fee of US$200. If a participant wishes to change their start date, the registration fee is only valid for new start dates within twelve months of the earliest start date they have been registered for.

For complaints about the procedures leading up to departure, please email day-one@theincitement.com.

When you are on your placement, please bear in mind that you need to show a high level of independence and initiative in dealing with problems yourself as they arise. If you have a problem or complaint to do with your work, please discuss the matter first with your supervisor at the teaching or project placement. If it is not resolved in this way or if it is to do with your accommodation, please discuss the matter with our senior organizer in your destination country, or one of his or her assistants. Any complaint made or problem known to our overseas offices (including any made to overseas staff members at any time) will be recorded. Individual situations are then discussed and resolved appropriately. Finally, if you still feel dissatisfied when you are on your placement, you can contact our Director’s office at +60 18-246 7281.

This includes behaviour such as serious rowdiness or drunkenness, failure to turn up to work, or leaving work without any adequate reason, or in the event of an unreasonable inability, from whatever cause, to do the work expected.

A disciplinary problem would be brought to your attention in writing or, if you were not contactable, delivered to your accommodation address. If the problem still stood after five working days (or shorter period if urgent), a further letter would be sent saying that, if the matter was not resolved to our satisfaction within a further five working days (or shorter period if urgent), you would be repatriated as soon as we could make the arrangements. Should you wish to stay in your destination country beyond that date, Day One would have no further responsibility for your accommodations and support.

It would be at the discretion of Day One to suspend you from your work during any disciplinary process. You are under the authority of Day One and their overseas agents and organizers throughout the period of the teaching or project placement.
